Words With Friends Dictionary

Check whether a word appears in the local ENABLE1 reference dictionary. The checker runs in your browser and tells you which words are in this specific list, without pretending it is the official live Words With Friends lexicon.

Check a word or a short list

Enter one word or up to 25 words separated by spaces, commas or semicolons.

Use letters A–Z only. Each word must be 2–15 letters long.

Enter a word to check the local ENABLE1 reference list.

A “Listed” result means the spelling appears in this ENABLE1 edition. It does not certify that the current Words With Friends game will accept it.

Which dictionary does this checker use?

This page searches ENABLE1, the Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon, a public-domain English word list compiled by Alan Beale and M. Cooper. The source file contains 172,823 lines; the checker uses entries from 2 to 15 lowercase letters. It is a reference word list, not a live connection to Zynga's game dictionary.

Why the current Words With Friends dictionary may differ

Words With Friends maintains its own evolving lexicon. On October 8, 2026, Zynga announced an official dictionary expansion that added 25,000 newly playable words, including contemporary expressions and popular-culture terms. This independent checker does not claim that its ENABLE1 file contains those additions. For a disputed play, the decision inside Words With Friends is the authority.

Words With Friends and Scrabble dictionaries are different

A Scrabble dictionary and the Words With Friends reference list are not interchangeable. A word included among Scrabble words may be missing from this reference, and Words With Friends may include terms a Scrabble list does not. Use a word list that clearly identifies the game and edition you are checking.

What the results show

“Listed” means the word is present in this local ENABLE1 edition. “Not listed” means it is absent from this file; it does not prove the game rejects it. The score column shows the word's base Words With Friends tile value only, without board bonuses. Definitions and official game challenges are outside this tool's scope.

Words With Friends dictionary questions

Is this the official Words With Friends dictionary?

No. The checker searches the public-domain ENABLE1 reference word list. It reports whether an entry appears in that list, not whether Zynga will accept it in the current game.

Why can the checker disagree with Words With Friends?

The game has its own evolving word list. Zynga announced a 25,000-word dictionary expansion on October 8, 2026, while this checker uses a separately maintained ENABLE1 reference edition.

Can I check more than one word?

Yes. Enter up to 25 words separated by spaces, commas or semicolons. Each word must contain 2–15 letters from A to Z.

Does this replace a Scrabble dictionary?

No. Scrabble and Words With Friends do not use identical accepted-word lists. A word listed in a Scrabble dictionary is not automatically accepted in Words With Friends, and the reverse can also happen.

Does the dictionary checker show definitions?

No. It checks whether a spelling appears in the included reference word list and displays its length and estimated Words With Friends base tile score. It is not a definition service.
