Wordle Strategy

A strong Wordle strategy is about gaining useful information with every guess, not memorizing one supposedly perfect opening word.

Practical ways to improve

  1. Prioritize information early. Use common letters and avoid repeating letters before you have a reason to.
  2. Track every clue. Keep green letters fixed, move yellow letters and exclude confirmed gray letters.
  3. Watch repeated letters. A letter can appear more than once, and color feedback can reveal how many copies are present.
  4. Think about remaining possibilities. Choose guesses that distinguish between likely answers rather than simply repeating a familiar pattern.
  5. Do not force a risky guess. If you have several candidates, use a word that tests multiple uncertain letters when the guess count allows it.

Choose an informative starting word

Test several common letters in your opening row and avoid repeating a letter before you know it appears more than once. Compare recommended starting words and choose an opener you can use consistently.

Use the solver when the clues get complicated

Repeated letters need careful counting. A gray copy can mean the answer contains fewer copies than your guess, even when another copy is green or yellow. The Wordle solver tracks those minimum and maximum counts for you.
